FAQ: Pointer to eCS SCAM [eCS Scam]

"Managed Systems International, Inc. is an inactive domestic business
corporation, file #147590300, filed on 01/14/1998 and placed under a tax
forfeiture on 07/09/2004. Registered agent is listed as Robert T. St
John, 765 Juniper Ln, Lewisville, TX 75067 There is no assumed names
of file for this entity. ... There is no corporation, limited liability
company, limited partnership or assumed name of file for Serenity
Systems International." /s/ Texas Secretary of State

There is no 'Serenity Systems International' registered with the
Secretary of State in Texas, nor is there ever likely to be since
another unrelated corporation took the 'Serenity Systems' name several
years ago. There is a 'Managed Systems Inc.' that is registered to Bob
St. John at a Texas address but it is in 'inactive' status. More
importantly, nothing links 'Managed Systems Inc.' with 'eComStation'
such as licensing agreements, contracts, product names, advertisements,
or web sites.

The entire 'eCS' business consists of Bob St. John doing business in
virtual space with the unregistered name 'Serenity Systems
International' which is therefore meaningless. No one buys the 'eCS'
product from SSI or BSJ but from one and only one distributor located in
the Netherlands (Mensys) and not subject to US laws.

IBM will withdraw the inclusion of OS/2 in the eComstation product
effective December 31, 2005.

eCS or "eComstation" is a bastardized piss-poor product being pandered
in the OS/2 newsgroups by a small handful of desperate
salesmen/investors. These salesmen will stoop to any level to attack,
harass, lie to, smear, and destroy any OS/2 user who speaks out against
their goal: to take over the OS/2 newsgroups and destroy the OS/2
community. Like "the Religious Right" these zealots go to great lengths
to push and shove their agenda down the throat of the OS/2 community.
Headed by "The Boob" (Bob St. John) they zero in on one or two OS/2
users and hound them with their eCS promotions and when they complain,
these salesmen work to drive the OS/2 user out of the OS/2 newsgroups.

eCS fanatics have pretty much destroyed the OS/2 newsgroups for the time
being but the OS/2 user is undertaking a hard effort to stop the
destruction of our OS/2 community.

eCS is NOT OS/2. eCS simply uses OS/2 as a base operating system. eCS
itself is a minor third party vendor's problematic proprietary product
draped over OS/2 in an attempt to disguise the operating system and make
it 'their own'. The ONLY person who benefits from eCS is "The Boob" as
he picks the pockets of unsuspecting naive OS/2 users.

For this bizarre phenomenon we call the [eCS SCAM], read up on it at:

http://www.warpcity.com/PassportExpress.html (Who's computer is this?)

Then laugh your head off here:

http://www.warpcity.com/eCSGallery/ (Who's computer is this?)

and be sure to read the eCS LAUGH OUT LOUD Galley section on "How to
poke your finger in the eye of these con artists".

The OS/2 community would appreciate the insertion of [eCS SCAM] or [eCS
SPAM] in any message purporting to report on or promote the failed
product called eCS or eComStation.

By adding the bracketed titles you are helping the OS/2 community rid
the OS/2 newsgroups of illegal spamming by Serenity Systems, their
salesmen, investors and Anti-OS/2 fanatics.

And don't forget:

Complaints of illegal spamming by Serenity Officials, their salesmen,
distributors and investors in the OS/2 newsgroups will be accepted and
investigated by the Federal Trade Commission.

The eCS product is a *privately owned proprietary commercial package*
which prevents these eCS freaks from illegally misusing these OS/2
newsgroups to promote its sale through false advertising, misnomer
marketing tactics, public harassment, personal threats, phony
testimonials, and fake eCS customers. Such postings are commercial spam
published illegally to promote and sell a *privately owned proprietary
commercial package* in a public newsgroup.

Pandering a problematic product that doesn't work as advertised and
pitched illegally by Serenity Officials, their distributors, salesmen
and investors here in the OS/2 newsgroups is an illegal and criminal act.

Please, take your complaint to the Internet Fraud Complaint Center of
the Federal Bureau of Investigation here:

A few Serenity eCS Facts for digestion:

Todays update: "eCS Lusers cannot uninstall or remove the forced and
faulty eCS Multimedia, which doesn't work on 9 out of 10 eCS systems,
and replace it with the fully working and quite stable Warp 4.52
Multimedia package. Serenity won't allow it. "

(1) "Q-Systems will no longer participate in any activity related to
the eComStation line of products by Serenity Systems International. In
particular, we are no longer distributors of eComStation in Mexico."
Lock, stock and barrel, Q-Systems has slammed the door in the face of
Serenity Systems International just as Indelible Blue and Prism Data
Works of the US did when they realized how bad the product was.

(2) What the eCS Salesmen fails to tell you: eCS v1.2 was originally
to be a 'media refresh' and that's how Serenity conned the public into
supporting it but once they had sufficient support Serenity changed it
with a whole new 'point' release knowing full well they could charge
more money for it (to the tune of $296). There is really no 'upgrade'
when moving from v1.1 to 1.2. The only differences are the changes made
to the installer. You get the identical eCS system from 1.1 to 1.2 -
you just pay $296 for it.

(3) Despite the upgrading of the eCS v1.2 installing offering the
option of setting where you want things installed, eCS v1.2 is going to
install them to your boot drive. Same holds true to omitting the
installation of USB items like keyboard, mouse, printer, etc. Doesn't
matter if you don't want them enabled. You're going to get them
enabled. The options provided to NOT install them are just a facades...

(4) The designer of the new MINSTALL program says he'll add a GUI but
that won't help it. The MINSTALL program simply doesn't work - GUI or
no GUI.

(5) RSJ fails miserably under eCS v1.2. This is because RSJ's
installer looks to find a file in the boot directory and those idyits at
Serenity decided to rename the file and stick it in a different
directory without telling anyone. Geez, can you imagine the frustration
such a stupid decision has made to the eCS consumer who pays the high
cost for RSJ only to have it fail repeatedly - and you don't know why???
eCS' biggest whiner and complainer? Bob "Eager Beaver" Eager. He
complains, gripes, whines, complains and complains again ...

(6) Unattended or Automatic back up using Back Again 2 dies freezes
requiring a total reboot under eCS v1.2. You can only use the BA2
program in manual mode. This problem was originally reported in eCS
v1.0 and a fix was promised with v1.2. Serenity lied. It isn't fixed.
BTW, the problem doesn't exist under a NON-eCS system (pure OS/2).

(7) Importing WordPro files into Open Office for OS/2 doesn't work.

(8) RSJ v5.5 corrupts CDs under eCS v1.2. Doesn't under a pure Warp
OS/2 operating system.

(9) Returning from hibernation mode under eCS v1.2 with the use of the
UniAud driver results in no sound. Figuring out how to remove the
UniAud driver isn't documented.

(10) When you finally get to download eCS v1.2 from Meansys you get two
files. Meansys doesn't provide instructions on what to do with them -
you gotta figure that out yourself.

(11) Serenity was late by eleven months (11 months) with the release of
an updated eCS v1.1 causing potential customers to forego their purchase
and move to other operation systems.

(12) Serenity has failed to provide any of their own developed drivers
as promised more than four years ago. In fact, Serenity has provided no
drivers themselves and relies on volunteers to donate time and effort to
eCS for free which benefits the financial pockets of Bob St. John, owner
of Serenity.

(13) Serenity has lied to the OS/2 community regarding the claim they
and only they (Serenity) would be able to sell Warp 4 after January 31,
2001.

(14) Serenity has lied to the OS/2 community regarding the claim they
and only they (Serenity) could offer the OS/2 user a Journal File System
(JFS).

(15) Serenity sold an older version of OS/2 included in the eCS v1.0
retail product but claim it is 'up to date' when it isn't..

(16) Serenity sold an older version of SmartSuite for OS/2 in the eCS
v1.0 product even tho' they claimed it was the latest release of SS/2
(it wasn't).

(17) Serenity failed to provide the latest Lotus SS/2 upgrade to their
customers for more than three months (SS/2 upgrade v1.7.1)

(18). eCS v1.0 and v1.1, both GA releasse of eCS, fails to install on 9
out of 10 machines.

(19) eCS v1.0, v1.1, v1.2, all GA releases of eCS, requires substantial
time, assistance, public tech support and manual adjusting to install on
95% of all machines it is installed to despite the claims of Serenity
that it works 'right out of the box'.

(20) Serenity claimed early buyers would get an advantage if they
purchased a protection fee service contract (Upgrade Protection Package)
and yet no advantage was provided to those with a SWC subscription in place.

(21) Serenity purposely avoids telling customers ALL software
accompanying an eCS Package can ONLY be used under an eCS system and no
where else.

(22) Serenity's distributors claim to sell the eCS upgrade ONLY to
those with a valid Warp 4 license yet some eCS customers have
acknowledged they have no such license nor where they required or even
asked to produce one at the time of purchase.

(23) Serenity published a document claiming eCS v1.2 would be released
no later than June 30th, 2004. Like most of their published claims,
Serenity failed to meet that announced delivery date leaving eCS Lusers
'in the lurch' for another 90 days.

(24) eCS v1.2 Beta Testers publicly warned of an early "GA" release of
eCS v1.2 would contain more than 12 detrimental bugs what should be
fixed but they weren't.

(25) BMTMicro offers pre-sales of eCS v1.2 but as of August 31, 2004,
have no product to ship.

(26) Kim "Looonytoony" Cheung, previous co-owner of Serenity, took a
powder more than a year ago and hasn't been seen or heard from since.

(27) Claims made by Serenity and their distributors to include "extras"
in the CD package don't exist.

(28) Serenity claimed eCS v1.2 would be able to migrate a previous OS/2
desktop without problem or incident yet buyers admit it doesn't happen
or work and they are forced to reinstall eCS from scratch losing all of
their previous applications, operating system configurations, and system
setup.

(29) Serenity claims to offer the option of *not* installing their own
bastardized releases of xWorkplace (aka eWorkplace) and Styler/2
(eStyler) yet the eCS v1.2 forces the installation no matter what.

(30) Serenity claims the eCS v1.2 buyer will get a discount for
previous purchases of Open Office for OS/2, RSJ for OS/2, SmartSuite for
OS/2, Styler/2 and xWorkplace yet the only two distributors of eCS v1.2
don't offer all the stated discounts.

(31) Despite claims by eCS v1.2 beta testers there were major problems
with the mouse driver in eCS, Serenity released eCS v1.2 with the mouse
problems anyway forcing the eCS buyer to try and correct the problem
themselves.

(32) Serenity claims you can purchase eCS for just $59 but what they
don't say is that initial purchase is quite useless unless the eCS v1.2
buyer pays for an eCS Software Subscription ($89), an eCS Application
Pack ($99) and an eCS application Pack subscription service ($89) for a
total cost of over $300.

(33) Serenity's false marketing eCS packaging: The package for eCS
v1.2 displays a picture of "RealPlayer" and lies to the potential
customer with the implication that a version of RealPlayer for OS/2 is
included in the eCS v1.2 product. No such product exists.

(34) Serenity claims SVista works. It's a lie. SVista does not work.

(35) Hoblink, an application included with eCS v1.1, has been removed
from the eCS v1.2 Application Package, by demand of the Hoblink authors
who want nothing to do with eCS.

(36) Meansys has raised the price of the eCS v1.2 application pack from
$99 to $200 despite the fact that 95% of the applications found on the
eCS App Pack can be freely downloaded from Hobbes while the latter 5%
can be downloaded via Xnap or Limewire.

(37) eCS Lusers cannot uninstall or remove the forced and faulty eCS
Multimedia, which doesn't work on 9 out of 10 eCS systems, and replace
it with the fully working and quite stable Warp 4.52 Multimedia package.
Serenity won't allow it.
