Never mind who's going to maintain the regular alt.anagrams FAQ, who's
going to prepare an FAQ on the current spat?

I'm only an occasional visitor to alt.anagrams, so I was a bit bemused
to catch the references to problems with the Anagrammies. Gradually I
worked out that Larry Brash is trying to set up a separate anagram
discussion forum.

To be honest, my heart leapt in hope at this. I've long found Usenet
very hard and irritating to read, with the constant insistence on
quoting and requoting, so that one reads the same phrase or sentence
dozens of times, usually with just a line or so of intended
intelligent comment interjected between the requoted paragraphs. I
look forward to moderated forums where quotebacks are the rarity, or
preferably non-existent.

I managed to find Larry Brash's new forum, but found it a bit of a
disappointment, partly because it doesn't discourage this, and partly
because the interface is a bit long-winded. Now, if he can just be
persuaded to use the sort of interface (and mode of discussion) they
have in the 'bar' at www.freepint.co.uk, I'd happily jump ship to
escape the sea of quotebacks (pardon the mixed metaphors) in Usenet.
But on current evidence I might as well just revisit alt.anagrams once
a month (to keep my hand in).

Ah well, best of luck, everyone.
